Nature and biodiversity
Biodiversity is all the life around us - on land, in water and in the air. But biodiversity today is under more pressure than ever before. According to scientists, the loss of biodiversity is now so great that it is a crisis comparable to the climate crisis. Therefore, it is crucial that we take action on all parameters to protect our nature and the many different organisms and species that make it up.
At NORION, we are passionate about projects that contribute to a healthy and ecologically diverse planet. We strive to spread knowledge and love of nature to younger generations as well as to politicians and opinion makers.
What can we do?
We recognise that promoting biodiversity is complex and multifaceted, but for us it often starts with finding the right partners and the right arena to explore issues and solutions. We collaborate with both private and public actors and organisations and focus on making projects engaging and practice-oriented.
The starting point is a desire for our projects to give people a better understanding of why nature is so important to protect and how best to do so.
In addition, our projects range from behavioural mapping and analysis to case development, educational and school materials and information campaigns.
Our team of ethnologists, anthropologists, communicators and technical experts make us a strong team when it comes to bringing knowledge and competences to life and branching out into society.
What have we done?

Supported co-creation, advised on volunteer management, developed new tools, and evaluated the process and results of a project to improve access to local wild nature for vulnerable families with children, institutions and enthusiasts in a social housing masterplan (The social housing masterplan in Høje Gladsaxe, supported by Friluftsrådet)

Facilitated an engaging process with Herlev municipality, primary school teachers and didacticians to develop and communicate outdoor learning spaces to students in Danish primary schools and specifically to the realisation of a creative national idea competition with associated subject material and four new biodiversity-saturated learning spaces at Herlev primary schools (Villum Foundation)

Researched and developed cases on how nature conservation initiatives can go hand in hand (or the opposite) with recreation in Nordic municipalities for Nordic decision-makers (Nordic Council of Ministers)

Developed material and courses for children and young people in nature photography and nature communication in collaboration with Danish nature photographers and youth schools under Ungdomsringen (supported by Friluftsrådet)

Mapped and developed understandings of the concept of Nature Risk and how it is used around the world. This work will help Nordic politicians and opinion leaders to better understand the issue (Nordic Council of Ministers).

Created event concepts and developed communication material in collaboration with vulnerable young people in a project to motivate them to clean up rubbish in nature (FRAK, supported by the Danish EPA)
