Environmental economic analyses

In an era of growing focus on climate, biodiversity and resource optimisation, environmental economic analyses can be used to identify and assess environmental impacts, and thereby serve as a tool in the decision-making basis for both private companies and public institutions.

At Norion, we use environmental economic analyses to help you understand the socio-economic consequences of environmental impacts, measures and regulations, and thereby make informed decisions that can have a positive effect on both our society and nature.

The value of the environmental economic analysis

Socio-economic analyses are an essential tool for understanding and assessing the broader economic consequences of projects and policy initiatives. The analyses are grounded in scientific methods for impact assessments of, among other things, policy changes or proposals, incorporating the environmental economic perspective. These analyses help to identify how investments, legislation and measures affect society as a whole – focusing on environmental, social and economic factors alike.

In addition to policy analysis, we also work with methods for assessing and calculating the value of ecosystem services. Both direct and indirect socio-economic effects can be assessed, such as CO₂ emissions, water consumption, waste management and ecosystem services. This provides a clear picture of how efforts should be prioritised in order to achieve both environmental and economic benefits.
